OPI Struts Catwalk with Karen Walker, Debuts NEW Matte Top Coat

OPI joined New Zealand designer Karen Walker at New York Fashion Week yesterday. Models walked the runway at Pier 59 wearing polished yet playful separates in hues of black, olive, ivory and bright poppy. For nails, Walker selected OPI nail lacquer in Black Onyx, topped with new OPI Matte Top Coat, which launches April 2013. The unique nails had an edgy yet urbane finish that matched Walker’s overall collection.

Minx Collaborates with Celebrity Make-Up Artist Donald Simrock to Create a New Collection of Nail Coatings

Renowned Make Up Artist and Contributing Beauty Editor of Flaunt magazine Donald Simrock is joining forces with Minx, Inc. co-founders Dawn Lynch-Goodwin and Janice Jordan to create a private, limited edition collection of nail art entitled “Sextet.”

Dawn reveals “Both Janice and I have been working with Donald since the beginning of Minx, Inc., and we are very excited to collaborate on this project! We welcome adding Donald’s amazing creative talents to the Minx brand.” Dawn also notes that while the designs are focused toward male Minx fans, the designs are guaranteed to appeal to everyone.

Music Icon Shirley Manson adds: “What I love about Donald is that he understands beautiful things are much more interesting when they are also unique. He brought this esthetic to work with his nail designs for Minx, which are definitely eye-catching and unusually gorgeous!”

Launching later this month, Donald will feature the collection in select nail boutiques as well as online in Minx’s “Tasting Room” (www.MinxTastingRoom.com) where both consumers and professionals can purchase the designs. Each self-applied nail coating pack includes 18 templates for a perfectly prideful manicure/pedicure with absolutely no drying time.

Minx solid nail coatings require only heat and pressure for application, and have singlehandedly created a new category of nail fashion since launching over five years ago. Celebrities including Beyoncé, Lady Gaga, Katy Perry and Rihanna have worn countless Minx designs and colors, and have thrust nail fashion into the international spotlight. “I photographed the entire collection in the moment that I was inspired, and specifically with this project in mind,” confided Donald. “I really wanted to start with Minx using photographs. I tried to offer an urban view to the more natural elements, and a colorful, artistic view to the more industrial styles. I have started off with a collection of six patterns… And I’m really excited to see where we go from here!!”

OPI Joins Lauren Moffatt for Catskills-Inspired Collection at New York Fashion Week

Lauren Moffatt’s Catskills-inspired Fall/Winter 2013 collection debuted last week and featured OPI. Models sporting woodsy/country chic clothes and Moffatt’s new line of winter accessories were manicured with the pinky nude shade Don’t Pretzel My Buttons. This hue was topped with an uneven coat of OY – Another Polish Joke! at the free edge, with Glitzerland added over this color for a dipped-metallic effect. The neutral but sparkly look added glam to Moffatt’s rustic prints and complemented gold jewelry that was prominently featured.

Minx, Inc Unveils Signature Collection Designed by New Zealand Celebrity Nail Stylist Leah Light

Minx, Inc. co-founders Dawn Lynch-Goodwin and Janice Jordan are delighted to announce the launch of the “Minx Professional for Leah Light” collection designed by New Zealand’s premier nail stylist, Leah Light.

“We were so pleased to collaborate with Leah and bring her visions to life in this new Minx collection,” said Dawn. “We love how Leah’s collection is so personal to her, incorporating elements of her culture, her relationships, her philosophy and her family. A true artist, Leah has created a collection with significance and heart.”

Leah, who receives worldwide attention through her regular features on CoCo Perez and works with countless national and international stars, began applying Minx to her customers just over two years ago when she discovered the solid nail coating through the exclusive New Zealand and Australian distributor Switch Funky .

“As soon as I saw Minx, I thought it was genius,” Leah enthused. “Minx is a solid coating that can be applied on either natural nails or tips using only heat and pressure. There is no drying time and no chemicals,” Leah further explained, “While that alone is a big benefit where you are doing nails in high pressure situations like magazine shoots and fashion shows, I was beside myself when I saw the incredible graphics, designs, and metallics that Minx offered. Until Minx appeared on the market, there was no way a stylist could create such incredible nail fashion for clients without hours of preparation, and there was definitely no way to create the pure metallic that Minx offers.”

Leah finally met the founders of Minx when they flew over to New Zealand to meet her in November 2011. When they offered Leah the opportunity to design her own collection, she jumped at the chance to capture her nail artistry with Minx where it could be enjoyed by nail fashion enthusiasts around the world.

“My philosophy is to give each of my clients something unique, and by making each of my designs in the ‘Barely There’ style with a transparent background, every person who wears my design has creative control over the final look they achieve,” Leah explained. “By custom blending the base colors, no two clients need ever have the same look from any of my Minx designs.”

The theme for the eight designs in the Minx Professional by Leah Light collection is ‘Simply Chrome’ with each design utilizing the pure metallic Silver or Gold Minx finish. Each design appears on a transparent background, enabling it to be worn layered over a gel polish, nail polish, or Minx base color so that the design appears on top of the background color. The Minx coatings can also be worn alone, with no base, for a more subtle look.

OPI Walks Red Carpet with Carrie Underwood at the Grammys

Country singer Carrie Underwood walked the 55th Annual Grammy Awards red carpet yesterday wearing the rich ruby shade OPI nail lacquer in Danke-Shiny Red. Underwood added a special touch for the occasion with accent shade OPI Liquid Sand nail lacquer in What Wizardry Is This? on each ring finger. This new Liquid Sand hue launches with the upcoming promotion inspired by Disney’s Oz The Great and Powerful and will officially be available for consumers to purchase in March.

“Carrie’s black lace dress was all about pattern and texture, a look that carried through to her nails, where shimmering red was contrasted by a rich taupe accent finger featuring Liquid Sand’s textured, matte finish,” explains OPI manicurist Bobbie Naohara.

Underwood also wore Danke-Shiny Red on her toes.

Adele Uses OPI to Accessorize Award-Winning Look at the Grammys

Singer-songwriter Adele walked the 55th Annual Grammy Awards red carpet yesterday wearing OPI nail lacquer in Hands Off My Kielbasa! topped with OPI Matte Nail Envy to accessorize her chic custom Valentino Couture floral embroidered dress. Adele won Best Pop Solo Performance for "Set Fire to the Rain” at last night’s award ceremony.

“Adele wanted something fun to complement her red patterned dress, so we added the Matte Nail Envy top coat to give her classic nails an edgy look to match her signature style. The matte finish added the perfect touch,” said celebrity manicurist Kimmie Kyees.

Hands Off My Kielbasa! is part of OPI’s Spring/Summer 2013 Euro Centrale collection which launched just last week, on February 6.

OPI Joins Chloe Sevigny for Opening Ceremony at New York Fashion Week

OPI joined Chloë Sevigny for Opening Ceremony at its official New York Fashion Week debut Saturday. Inspired by the Occupy Wall Street movement, the line had a ‘60s flare featuring a color palette of black, pink, baby blue and cream. OPI nail lacquer in My Very First Knockwurst, which was also worn by Sevigny for the collection’s Fall/Winter 2013 look book, added a warm neutral complement to the eclectic clothing.

The presentation was held at St. Mark’s in the Bowery and featured five girl bands playing songs round-robin style while the models, including designer Sevigny, held signs with rotating slogans.
